UIL Award Types We Manufacture

A UIL meet needs more than one award type — place medals for the podium, ribbons for the heats, pins for the letter jacket, trophies for the team sweepstakes. We make all of it under one roof, so a single purchase order covers the whole meet.

UIL Meet Ribbons & District Awards — What to Order at Each Level

A UIL season runs from campus meets through district, regional, and state — and each level hands out a different mix of medals and ribbons. District and academic meets in particular order far more ribbons than medals: place ribbons for the podium, participant ribbons for everyone else. This is the ordering pattern most Texas districts follow, and it all fits on one purchase order.

Meet LevelTypical Award MixRibbon SpecTypical Quantity
Campus / classroom meetParticipation ribbons for all, place medals for the top 320–25mm × 800mm youth100–300
UIL district meet (academic & athletic)1st–6th place medals plus district ribbons25–30mm × 860–900mm200–800

Non-UIL academic eventsSpelling bee, science fair, speech & debate — participation plus place20–25mm × 860–900mm100–500

Quantities above are planning guidance — the production minimum is 100 pieces per design, and every ribbon variant in your order counts toward the same purchase order. Ribbons ship with the medals on one schedule, and non-UIL academic events are specified exactly like UIL ones. For ribbon materials, widths, print methods, and attachment options in detail, see our custom medal ribbons page.

What Schools and Booster Clubs Ask Us For — Every Season

UIL awards are ordered by coaches, academic coordinators, booster clubs, and district purchasing offices. Four requirements come up in almost every conversation — and all four are standard here.

01

School-Budget Pricing — No Retail Markup

A district ordering medals for eight campuses, or a booster club funding awards from fundraiser money, needs every dollar to stretch. Because we are the factory — mold making, die-casting, polishing, plating, enamel filling, engraving, and ribbon production all happen in our own building — there is no importer, no trophy shop, and no promotional-products distributor adding a markup on top. Orders that would cost several dollars per medal through a domestic award retailer typically land far lower at factory-direct volume. The savings can fund upgraded ribbons, engraving, or packaging without touching the original budget.

02

Exact School Color Matching — Navy Is Not Royal

School colors are identity. Navy blue, not royal. Maroon, not bright red. Kelly green, not lime. We stock base enamel colors and mix fresh per batch to your exact Pantone reference, then coordinate the enamel, the plating, and the ribbon to the same standard. Send a Pantone code or a physical swatch from the school store. Every formulation is archived in your account — when the same district orders again next season, the colors match the previous batch exactly. The students change every year; the colors do not.

03

Place and Name Engraving — Each Award Identified

UIL meets hand out a lot of medals, and they need to be legible and correctly labelled. Place (1st through 6th), event name, district, and date are cast or laser-engraved on the front. Student names come from your roster file (Excel or CSV) and are laser-engraved on the back — permanent, high-contrast, and never rubbed off. We run verification checks against the roster so the right name lands on the right medal. Allow roughly one extra production day per 500 personalized pieces.

04

Competition-Season Timing — Deadlines Are Real

A district track final or a regional band contest does not move because a supplier ran late. We build the production calendar around your meet date: 24 hours for the free design, 7–10 days for a physical sample, then 7–15 days for bulk production. Large in-house capacity — more than 30,000 pieces a day across the factory — means peak-season volume does not automatically push your order to the back of the queue. Tell us your meet date and we will give you an honest feasibility answer before you commit.

Customization Options for UIL Awards

Custom School Mascot Shape

Your mascot cast as the medal silhouette — not a circle with a logo printed on it, but the shape itself. Die-casting holds fine detail in 3D relief. Complex mascots may be simplified slightly for castability; our designers flag this in review before anything is cut.

One Mold, Three Plating Tiers

Gold for 1st, nickel silver for 2nd, copper for 3rd — one shared mold, three finishes. The most cost-effective way to differentiate places without paying for three separate molds. 4th–6th can use bronze or antique finishes on the same design.

Ribbon Types Matched to the Award

Heat-transfer printed ribbons for full-color school logos, woven ribbons for a premium textured feel, sublimated ribbons for photographic artwork, or solid satin when the medal carries the branding. School-color matched and available in youth length for elementary campuses.

Place & Event Engraving

1st through 6th place, event name, district, and date engraved on the front. Laser engraving is permanent and high-contrast. Variable data from your roster covers the back for student-name personalization.

Pins & Badges for Letter Jackets

UIL pins and badges in die-struck and die-cast metal — the awards students actually wear on the letter jacket long after the season ends. Hard or soft enamel, gold/nickel/copper plating, coordinated with the medal design for a consistent look across the meet. See our pins line for sizes and attachments.

Sweepstakes & Team Trophies

Team sweepstakes awards in matching design language — same mascot, same colors, same finish. See our trophies line for sizes and base options; combine medals and trophies on one purchase order.

Factory-Direct — What It Means for Your District

Multi-Year Reorder Consistency

Your mold is archived. Your Pantone color specifications for enamel and ribbon are archived. Your roster engraving template is saved. When the same district orders next season — updated year, new names — we retrieve everything. Same mascot relief. Same navy blue. Same ribbon texture. Districts that have reordered for several consecutive years tell us batch-to-batch consistency is the reason they stopped collecting competing quotes.

One Factory, One Accountability Line

Mold making, die-casting, polishing, plating, enamel filling, laser engraving, ribbon production, assembly, QC, and packing — all under one roof in Huizhou, Guangdong. When every step is in-house, a quality problem has exactly one owner. No situation where the engraving shop blames the plating shop. That matters most in competition season, when there is no room for supplier finger-pointing.

Bulk Capacity Without Peak-Season Panic

More than 30,000 pieces a day of production capacity, an 88-ton die-casting press as the workhorse for medal bodies, and three-stage quality control on every order. For a district ordering across multiple campuses, or a booster club running a single large meet, that capacity is what keeps a late-season order on schedule instead of pushing it out of the calendar.

UIL Awards FAQ — Answers From the Factory Floor

We need medals for every place, plus ribbons and pins. Can we order all of it together?

Yes — and that is the normal way districts order. A single purchase order can cover place medals, neck ribbons, metal pins, and trophies, all in matching school colors and design language. One production schedule, one shipment, one point of contact. Combining items also simplifies district purchasing paperwork compared with splitting the order across several suppliers.

How do we match our school colors exactly?

Send your Pantone color codes, or a physical swatch from the school store. Enamel is mixed fresh per batch to match, the ribbon is produced to the same reference, and the plating finish is selected to complement the scheme. All specifications are archived in your account so future orders match. For districts with strict brand standards we can supply a physical swatch sample for approval before bulk production.

Can each medal carry the student's name?

Yes. Send your roster in Excel or CSV format (first name, last name, event, place if applicable). We program the laser with your data and engrave each medal individually on the back. We verify against the roster to keep the right name on the right medal. Allow roughly one extra production day per 500 personalized pieces, plus a one-time data programming setup.

Our meet is six weeks away — is that enough time?

Usually, yes, if we start now. Standard timeline is 24 hours for the free design, 7–10 days for a physical sample, then 7–15 days for bulk production, plus shipping. Six weeks gives comfortable room for sample approval. For tighter deadlines, tell us the exact meet date and we will give you an honest feasibility answer and, where the calendar allows, a rush option.

We are a booster club, not a school district. Can we order directly?

Yes. Booster clubs, PTAs, coaches ordering independently, and parent groups all order from us. You do not need to go through a district purchasing office, and there is no requirement to buy through a domestic reseller. Standard MOQ is 100 pieces per design, with volume pricing that improves as quantities rise.

What sizes work for elementary versus high school UIL?

Elementary campuses typically use 1.5–2 inches (38–50mm) with a safety breakaway clasp and an 800mm youth-length ribbon. Middle school suits 2–2.5 inches. High school standard is 2–2.5 inches, with 3 inches for sweepstakes or major awards. These are guidelines — tell us the campus level and ceremony format and we will recommend accordingly.

Can you produce a custom mascot shape rather than a round medal?

Yes. Zinc alloy die-casting handles custom silhouettes well — mascots, state outlines, instrument shapes, and other non-circular forms. Very fine or undercut detail may need slight simplification for castability; our design team flags anything that needs adjusting and shows you the modified version before cutting the mold. There is no charge for that design work.

Do you offer the packaging schools actually hand out at the ceremony?

Yes. Individual velvet pouches in school colors are popular for stage presentation — the medal arrives already in the pouch and is handed across cleanly. Presentation cards, gift boxes, and other packaging are available and quoted separately. Standard poly bag is included with every order. Upgraded packaging typically adds 1–3 days to production depending on style and quantity.
